SERPENTE AUREO THEATRE

19th century

L’attuale Teatro Serpente Aureo, rimodernato nel 1862, è un vero gioiello di concezione barocca di tipo a boccascena con schema a ferro di cavallo. La volta, raffigurante Apollo e le Muse, venne dipinta da Alcide Allevi ed è attorniata da otto medaglioni raffiguranti i più illustri autori della lirica e della prosa. L’antico sipario del 1926, opera di Giovanni Battista Magini, raffigurava e narrava la leggenda del Serpente d’oro.

The Serpente Aureo Theater remodeled in 1862 is a true baroque jewel with a proscenium and horses hoeshape.  The vault portrays Apollo and the Muses, it waspainted by Alcide Allevi and it’s surrounded by eight medallions representing the authors of opera and prose.
The old curtain of 1926was made by Giovanni Battista Maginiit tells the legend of the Golden Snake.
