MONASTERY OF SAN MARCO

14th – 18th century

Uno dei primi conventi francescani delle Marche edificato a pochi anni dalla morte del Santo. Dal XII sec. in avanti ha subito ampliamenti e trasformazioni ancora oggi riconoscibili nelle tracce costruttive. Nel 1655 vi si trasferirono le monache benedettine che ancora oggi vi dimorano.
L’attuale chiesa, venne realizzata nel 1738,riducendo l’originaria chiesa mendicante del 1359.

The monastery of St. Marco is one of the first Franciscan convent built in Marche. It was built few years later the death of the saint. The monastery has been expanded during the 12th century.
The benedictine nuns live there since 1655.
The current church was built in 1738 reducing the former church of 1359
