CHURCH OF THE SUFFRAGE

14th – 19th century

La facciata, che volge ad Oriente, mostra i segni di due piccole porte murate in travertino, risalenti al sec. XIV e presenta l’originario ingresso della chiesa di S. Antonio abate. Sulla sinistra si evidenziano i resti di un affresco deteriorato attribuito a Simone de Magistris. L’ingresso attuale viene fatto risalire al XVII secolo. All’interno, sulla parete di fondo è posto in una nicchia, un finto scheletro in legno del sec. XVII, raffigurante “la Morte”, che la Compagnia del Suffragio portava, come emblema, in processione.

The eastern facade shows the signs of two small doors walled in travertine. The church dates back to the 14th century. On the left side there are the remains of a deteriorated fresco attributed to Simone de Magistris. The actual entrance is traced back to the 17th century. In the church on the back wall is placed a fake wooden skeleton of the 17th century depicting “Death” that the Company of Suffrage brought in procession.
